Valentine's Day

We had such a great Valentine's Day; especially since we've been on vacation this week. We're vacationing at home since the clock is ticking on our time left in New York. Yesterday we started out with brunch at Norma's. Then we went to the Frick Museum (all day we called it the frickin' Frick). Thanks to my friend Mike for suggesting that we go. It's an amazing collection; mostly because it's housed in Frick's home and has been left much the same way as he had originally arranged it.

Then we went to afternoon tea at Alice's Tea Cup. There are three locations; I've been wanting to try them and I'm sorry we never went sooner. It's not as refined as tea at the St. Regis, but it's so much cheaper, and the scones are so much better. Every day they have different flavors, and they're huge and fresh. Ours were right out of the oven. We had White Chocolate-Raspberry Scones and a buttermilk one. Plus there was more food than we could eat so we brought home a scone and the desserts for a snack later. All the little girls at Alice's Tea Cup get a pair of fairy wings. I told Heinz that I thought the one thing Birmingham was lacking was a fun tea place like this. (Unless one has opened that I don't know about.) So put this place on your list for the next time you're in New York.

I can't think of a better place to vacation at home!

I think some extremely organized, crafty doctor's wife who loves to bake might need to open a tea room in Birmingham. If only I could find someone who fits that description...

If you opened a tea room, you wouldn't be responsible for making lunch and snacks for me and Stephanie. We'd just eat at your tea room! For free, obviously. And we'd need a key to your house so we can get in the craft room as needed.

I was thinking that it would be fun to open a tea room. And then I decided that it would be too much work.
