The tart is very sticky, but I think it turned out well. I tried to cut owls into the top crust but it broke when I picked it up. Next time I'm going to make a treacle pudding. I believe that Whole Foods sells the Golden Syrup as well.

Harry Potter's Favorite Dessert
Katie has me beat on the Harry Potter crafts with the knitted owl (see Luke's Blog, at right), but I always wanted to know what Treacle Tart tasted like so I made one this weekend. I went to a British grocery store in Chelsea to get the Golden Syrup.
The tart is very sticky, but I think it turned out well. I tried to cut owls into the top crust but it broke when I picked it up. Next time I'm going to make a treacle pudding. I believe that Whole Foods sells the Golden Syrup as well.

Does it taste like anything you've had before?
Not really. It has lemon zest and fresh lemon juice, so that gave it a nice flavor. It also has regular oats mixed with ginger with the golden syrup poured on top. I got the recipe from recipezaar.
